Check out these tips to keep the mosquitos away!

Summer is here, and so is the humidity. Along with the sticky weather comes lots of bugs. While most bugs are harmless, it’s important to be vigilant of the ones that carry diseases. Reduce your risk for bug bites with these tips to keep the mosquitos away.

Wear Bug Spray.

Bug spray is your best defense against bugs. Cover yourself head to toe in spray to help keep the bugs at bay. Spray your skin and your clothes so that you can maximize your protection. The most effective types of bug sprays are DEET, Picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, PMD, or IR3535. However, be cautious when applying these sprays. Read the label before using the spray, follow the instructions, and never spray it directly on your face. Spray it into your hands and then apply it.

Stay Indoors.

Mosquitos are active at all times of the day. While there’s no way to be certain about when mosquitos will bite, they tend to be more dangerous in the evening, especially near bodies of water. If you can avoid being outside, do it. If you can’t stay inside, take precautions. Wear long sleeves, long pants, and bug spray.

Use Your Air Conditioning.

Opening your windows is a great way to cool down, but it can also let a mosquito or two inside your home. Minimize your risk for letting mosquitos in, and use your air conditioning. If you can’t resist opening a window, check your screens to verify that there aren’t any holes, rips, or tears. If you do notice any damage, have it repaired right away.
